Introduction

The panorama is breathtaking The observation tower of the Lake Tisza Ökocentrum is a special, unmissable location in many ways. The spheres visible on the very top of the bird-symbolizing building designed by the Ybl award-winning architect László Kertai are at a height of 41.73 meters, while if you stand on the viewing terrace, you can "tread" the 23.6-meter height with your feet, so you can scan with your eyes from a height of about 25.5 meters along the Tisza landscape. From higher up in this area, only the birds and possibly "who flies over it" can watch... It is interesting that due to the N-S orientation of the building, the four sides of the viewing terrace face north, east, west and south. On the south side, the Poroszlói basin of Lake Tisza opens up in front of us, the more distant, "inner" areas of which are also clearly visible. We can also take a look at the Hortobágy National Park Water Walk, the starting point of which is indicated by a huge sign that can be read from afar. From here, we can also "orientate" ourselves that if we bought a ticket for a small boat trip, we have to walk quite a bit, about 150 meters, to the harbor of the Ökocentrum on the lake shore. The Tiszavalki basin of the lake - i.e. the Lake Tisza Bird Reserve - can be seen from the east side, and it is also worth observing the spectacular shape of the bridges of the recently completed and rapidly popular bike path, evoking the waves of the water. The northern side has a real geographical specialty: the observation tower of the Lake Tisza Eco Center is the only place from which you can simultaneously enjoy a panoramic view of the defining features of Heves county - and perhaps of the entire country - in clear weather, from this place you can see the highest mountain range in our country, the Mátra ranges, and if we are lucky and have very good eyes (best if we have binoculars), even the Kékes transmitter tower can be seen clearly, even with the naked eye. Looking slightly to the right, you can see the second highest mountain range of Hungary, the Bükk, at the foot of which, with a little imagination, you can also imagine Eger and Miskolc. The neat houses and buildings of the village of Poroszló are best seen from the western side, of which the towers of the Catholic and Reformed churches stand out the most: it is no coincidence that these two churches and the towers of the Ökocentrum appear in the latest tourist logo of Poroszló. Fortunately, the designers did not forget the aspects of equal opportunities either, they considered it important that the viewing terrace on the seventh floor of the tower should be accessible not only on foot by stairs, but also by elevator, enabling our guests in wheelchairs, strollers or those with physical disabilities to not only miss out on the experience of "enjoying" the fantastic panorama. In addition to the Lake Tisza Eco Center, only the Cycling Center in Tiszafüred can provide this opportunity, whose viewing terrace can also be accessed by elevator. The elevator of the Ökocentrum can accommodate 13 people at a time, so it may happen that you have to wait a bit for the elevator during the peak season... And if anyone is wondering how far world-famous tourist centers are as the crow flies from the Ökocentrum: you can find out from the small signs placed in the tower. For example, the Acropolis of Athens is 1,103.4 kilometers from us... You can listen to our podcast made in the observation tower by clicking on the picture
